MIOS term was coined after intensive discussion in 2012 and 2013 when we were planning a national robotic surgery workshop. Dr. Kiranmai and Dr. Kaveri our fellow in gynaec oncology were responsible for the term MIOS- Minimally Invasive Onco Surgery Workshop.
And also when we invite NATIONAL FACULTY and GEMS from our fraternity across India and we also did INTERNATIONAL MIOS with Prog KIM from Severance Robotic Institute, Yonsei University, Seoul.
Though started in 2012 as MIOS-1 in a small way as we were not sure at that time how it will be received, we did in a grand way with national faculty in 2013 The MIOS- 2
We has a MISSION-Introduce Innovative technology and make it simple, safe and doable by our fellow surgeons. it was a grand success. And on that day I decided I will always be there where the LATEST TECHNOLOGY is there in ROBOTIC SURGRY so that we can give the best to our patients, we explained the concerned CEO’s that we want to be in the center with the latest Robot and they understood our mad passion of pursuit of new technology. This led us to change hospital every 5 years in pursuit of the latest robotic equipment and which made our TEAM IN TELUGU STATES TO DO THE FIRST ROBOTIC TEAM TO DO THE FOLLOWING- ESOPHAGECTOMY, THE FIRST LUNG CANCER SURGERY, FIRST TRANS ANAL RECTUM CANCER SURGERY, FIRST UNIPORTAL LUNG CANCER SURGERY, FIRST TRANS ORAL THYROID AND ORAL CANCER SURGERY, NECK SCARLESS THYROIDECTOMY, FIRST PAROTIDECTOMY, NATURAL ORIFICE SPECIMEN EXTRACTION AND INTRACORPOREAL ANASTOMOSIS IN RECTAL CANCER and so on so forth
BUT MOST IMPORTANT WE DIDINT KEEP THESE PROCEDURE TO OUR SELVES, WE DEMONSTRATE THESE IN OUR MIOS-Why?, because our SEEING IS BELIEVING. So we show to our peers our techniques, we let them give their feedback, we let them think and we debate. This intern will let us learn and make us adopt more SAFE PRACTICES and we also saw in MIOS 9 that Surgeons who attended our past MIOS have adopted our techniques. And also Surgeons are shown a path and they will modify it according to their facilities, modify some steps and the culture of innovative safe surgery practices continue. THATS OUR MISSION OF MIOS.
