BIOLOGICAL TARGETED AUGMENTED REALITY IN COLONIC AND RECTAL CANCER WITH SMART SENSE ROBOTIC STAPLERS BY DR. JAGDISHWAR GOUD GAJAGOWNI

AR and AI are incorporated in the world of surgery. Innovative disruptors in technology are being used by us to help humanity. Colo and Rectal cancer surgeries are very fatal when the sutures give way, it can lead to faecal contamination and loss of life.

AR by definition is 3D, real time visualization of blood circulation in the edges of cut ends of Colon or Rectum after resecting the cancerous segment. This is especially important when we give radiation or chemotherapy first as they can compromise vascularity.

The Indocyanine Dye is injected IV when we are ready to restore the continuity of the bowel. The dye immediately enters the circulation, and we see fluorescence of bowel ends if it has good blood supply. When the blood supply is good then we can join the ends and chances of breakdown of edges and the fatal leak are lesser. This is an biological agent and the 3D video seen REAL time during the Robotic Surgery helps the Surgeon to see better and do the surgery better with better results for the patients.

Then we use ROBOTIC STAPLERS to join the Colon or Rectal ends so that patient will be able to ass motions naturally. The Robotic Staples sense the compression thickness of the edges which we plan to join and gives us a visual and electronic feedback on the computer screen during the procedure.

These AR and AI with 3D visualisation with seeing better the blood supply REAL TIME helps in reducing the dreaded leak related  complication rates.

There is more coming in the future with use of Immune conjugates and tumor antibody tagged to radio isotope to do BIOLOGICAL, TARGETED AUGUMNETED REALITY SURGERY

And we use the same AR & AI for Oesophageal Cancer, Gastric cancer also for better patient results. And in ENDOMETRIOSIS in women which is a very disease conditions.
