#1roboticesophagectomy RAMIE – Robotic Esophagectomy Program

VISION: Every aspiring Robotic Surgeon performs RAMIES in their own Institute or hospital on their own and a patient need not travel away from their native place.

MISSION: Interact with Surgeons across india, learn mutually and see that Robotic Esophagectomy technique is made more and more simple and doable with structured and standardised pathway.

One should remember that , it’s the surgeon’s hands that performs the surgery, it’s never the robot. Robotic technology augments Surgeons skills, resulting in less bleeding, better nodal clearance, lesser complications and faster discharge with quicker return of work .

To ensure safe implementation of robotic assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE), the learning process should be optimized. The RAMIE is headed by our Robotic Onco surgeon ,Dr. Jagdishwar Goud Gajagowni, a surgeon who has a decade of experience in RAMIE and working at a high-volume center with a tailored and structured training pathway that involves proctoring.

There was a time a decade ago there was no video available in India of the same procedure. And our team started at that time with extrapolation of Laparoscopic  operative techniques to robotic steps and standardised the technique. We published our data of 162 Robotic Esophagectomy in 2019 itself. And we feel we should let our exemplary Surgeons of India to observe our procedure and decide for themselves..

Our team is involved in mentoring many surgeons from Punjab to Tamilnadu, Maharashtra to West Bengal.

After meeting many Surgeons and discussing with them , we felt there is a gap in training in Robotic Esophagectomy and we want to fill that with our with this program called RAMIE

Our technique is simple, standardised and doable.

This program will consist of

  1. Mentoring the Esophagectomy in Government Institutions when requested
  2. Mentoring all robotic institutions through Intuitive training program
  3. Didactic lectures with open discussions. And improving further with the given feedback by trainees
  4. Observation of robotic Esophagectomy at our American Oncology Institute, Hyderabad, Telangana

We are launching this program on November 1st, 2022 and we will be available to those who request us.
